Legendary Three Dog Night to Perform Free Concert!

Three Dog Night - Worlds Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade

Legendary music icons Three Dog Night will perform a free public concert in downtown Hot Springs Sunday, March 17, 2019, immediately after the First Ever 16th Annual World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade® on world-famous 98-foot-long Bridge Street.

The band will perform on the Bridge Street Stage at the intersection of Bridge Street, Broadway, Malvern Avenue and Convention Boulevard.

Another free public concert featuring Smash Mouth at the same venue will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday night, March 16 — the night before the parade.

This will mark the second year in a row that two free concerts have been held in conjunction with the internationally known parade, which annually attracts 30,000 celebrating fans to the downtown historic district.

No chairs will be permitted at either concert, according to Steve Arrison, CEO of Visit Hot Springs and one of the founders of the parade.

Three Dog Night are celebrating their fifth decade in the music business, accumulating along the way some of the most astonishing statistics in popular music.

In the years 1969 through 1974, no other group achieved more Top 10 hits, moved more records or sold more concert tickets than Three Dog Night. The band’s hits wind through the fabric of pop culture today, whether on the radio where they are heard day in and day out, in TV commercials or in major motion pictures – songs like “Mama Told Me (Not To Come),” “Joy to the World,” “Black and White,” “Shambala” and “One” crystallize the group’s continuing popularity. The band’s continued popularity has landed “The Best of Three Dog Night: 20th Century Masters” on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart for nine of the last 12 months.

The band, including Danny Hutton (founder/lead vocalist) and Michael Allsup (guitar), Paul Kingery (bass/vocals), Pat Bautz (drums), Howard Laravea (keyboards) and David Morgan (vocals) takes pride in performing their hit filled concerts for generation-spanning audiences.

The band’s now-famous name refers to native Australian hunters in the outback who huddled with their dogs for warmth on cold nights; the coldest being a “three dog night.”

Three Dog Night recorded the music of the best (and mostly undiscovered) new songwriters of their time including Harry Nilsson, Randy Newman, Elton John, Laura Nyro, Paul Williams and Hoyt Axton among many others. The group’s eclectic taste, combined with their ability to recognize and record hits in a unique, distinctive and appealing style, resulted in the band dominating best-selling charts for years.

The free 8 p.m. concert on Saturday, March 16, featuring Smash Mouth will climax a day of festivities that will start at 3 p.m. with the opening of O’Kelley’s World’s Largest Inflatable Pop Up Pub adjacent to Bridge Street. Music will start at 7 p.m., with the Smash Mouth performance beginning at 8.

The First Ever 16th Annual World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade®, will feature TV star Ralph (Karate Kid) Macchio as the celebrity grand marshal and Ellen DeGeneres’ favorite DJ and dancer, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, as the official starter.
