World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade Again Designated One of the Top 20 Events by Southeast Tourism Society

HOT SPRINGS NATIONAL PARK, Arkansas — Hot Springs’ First Ever 11th Annual World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade, to be held March 17, 2014, has once again been named one of the Top 20 Events by the Southeast Tourism Society.

The parade has maintained its Top 20 Events designation for six years, according to Chrissy Egleston, special events coordinator for Visit Hot Springs, the city’s tourism agency.

“The Southeast Tourism Society has recognized our parade consistently as one of the country’s unique events, and the Top 20 designation by this respected organization guarantees increased publicity for us across the United States,” Egleston said.

The Southeast Tourism Society receives extensive exposure in print media, web, television and radio outlets in the United States and Canada. More than 1,600 newspapers, magazines, electronic media and AAA associations receive the Top 20 lists. The Top 20 events are listed on the Southeast Tourism Society website, www.southeasttourism.org, and on the Society’s consumer website, www.escapetothesoutheast.com.

The World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade annually draws thousands of people to Hot Springs’ historic downtown district with its combination of zany floats, bands, marchers and celebrity grand marshals.

The entire parade route consists of the 98-foot length of Bridge Street, famous since the 1920s when Ripley’s Believe It or Not designated it the shortest street in the world in everyday use.
