Elvis to Take Part in World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Parade

Hot dog! Elvis is coming to the First Ever Eighth Annual World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17.

The real Elvis.

The International Order of Irish Elvi have been a part of the parade since its beginning. They admit they’re impersonators.

The Elvis who will take part in the 2011 parade is a Garland County resident who made it big in The Big Apple. His real name is Southwind’s Walking In Memphis, but everyone knows him as plain old Elvis.

He won Best of Breed earlier this month in judging at the internationally known Westminster Dog Show at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Elvis is owned by Ray Ann Reynolds and Steve Lowthian of Pearcy in Garland County. His handler is Brian Leonard of Hot Springs, box office manager of the Hot Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“Because of the worldwide recognition Elvis and Brian brought to Hot Springs with their performance in New York we thought Big E would be a perfect fit for our parade,” said Steve Arrison, CEO of the HSCVB. “All Elvis fans should come out and see this local hero.”
